The Rightful Heirs edition by Tom Schuyler Literature Fiction eBooks
As a first time author, Mr. Schuyler deserves praise for a really good try. The premise of holocaust survivors, Swiss banks & what the retrieval of financial deposits 60 some odd years after the war was very interesting. The book relates how 6 Italian Jewish families trusted a Catholic friend to get their money out of Milan & into Switzerland, and make sure their rightful heirs inherit what would amount to millions of dollars. Again, it was a great premise, but it was if the story was written either by an amateur or a very immature person. Does anyone know a native born Italian named Howie. Seriously.Did anyone even edit this book? If so, it is doubtful that their English was their first language. First names & last names more often than not started with letters that weren't capitalized. Punctuation was missing. Some words didn't have any spacing between them. It made me dizzy trying to figure where sentences began or ended. Some words were a jumble of upper & lower case letters.
I had to laugh when I read that arm. Schuyler was in his seventy's. the story line obviously involved every dirty old man's fantasy of having a magnificent much younger sex starved woman fall in love with them because they are so interesting. In real life old men better have a whole lot of money, it doesn't matter how interesting they think they are.

The Rightful Heirs edition by Tom Schuyler Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I have never been a huge fan of historical fiction, however I could not put this book down. The book is fast-paced and kept my attention from beginning to end. The Rightful Heirs makes a great vacation read or even for everyday enjoyment. I look forward to seeing more work from this author.
The Rightful Heirs by Tom Schuyler is a must read for historical novel buffs, especially if you love twisting plots. This book has it all- a great story line, deep characters, ad above all, a great sense of place.
I seldom read a book a second time - at least not right away - But found myself picking up, leafing through and then re-reading "The Rightful Heirs." Why? I had vivid pictures of Rolly, Jim, Mary and even Windom on my first read and wanted to see if they, not just the well crafted story, still intrigued me. They did and soon I knew I often was picturing scenes - like in an action film. I realize that not all books make good movies but this one will and soon I hope.
I enjoyed this book a lot! It's one of those that you really can't put down.
I found it an easy read and VERY interesting. The characters were real, great action. Would read anything else Tom publishes in the future. This was a great
book!!
I enjoy reading historical fiction and this was a fantastic story and very fast read. Tom's novel concerns an often untold story about Europe just prior to WWII, that being the money hidden in Swiss Bank Accounts by the Jews from the Nazis. The story line is suspenseful and the characters are believable. I enjoyed the narration which switched from historical to modern day. As a bonus, Tom has a background in aviation and intertwines a lot of his knowledge about the Bay Area aviation scene. I can't believe this is a first novel. Hope he has more coming.
It is too bad there isn't a "First Novel, 70 and Over" category for the Pulitzer Prize for literature. You would win, going away.
I very much enjoyed your book. It generally kept my attention and changed scenery and players just enough to keep me wondering what was going to happen next.
As the old saying goes, "Write what you know about." If I had to guess, I would say you know quite a bit about civil aviation, the wine industry, World War II history and the holocaust and its survivors.I thought you employed a deft touch in moving back and forth from modern dialogue (Jim, Mary and other contemporaries) to a lexicon more in keeping with that of wealthy Jews 75 years ago. Putting Rolly's speech patterns about half way between them helped keep track of the era.
Good luck and let me know what happens.
Tom Schuyler's opening novel is first-rate in every significant writing category an interesting story, well-told, extremely well-researched and informative and, perhaps most important to this reader, internally consistent in the mystery/thriller field of writing where clues and subtleties demand it.
I am a prolific but eclectic reader whose taste tends toward non-fiction. However, I have read enough literature by the masters of mystery novels to recognize that genre's gold standard. And Schuyler's first work has clearly put him among the mystery writing elite. High praise indeed.
But first a disclaimer. I graduated from high school with Tom Schuyler but did not know him. He headed to California to become a high school English and Drama teacher and I went elsewhere to seek my fortune. Decades later, we met at a school reunion and I was enticed to look at this novel that was getting such attention. My reaction? I could not put it down!
And now also some personal credentials as a devotee of the English language. I have a journalism degree, worked for quality newspapers, wrote tons of political speeches and Floor statements during a career in the U.S. Senate, wrote two academic dissertations and won writing awards. From all this comes not only a love of good craftsmanship by a good writer but the ability to recognize it.
If there was any trepidation on my part about reading a novel by a friend, with all the presumed obligation that that implies, it was dispelled in the first chapters. The story picked up pace, twisted and turned, dropping clues that would surface again in often unexpected places. The characters were believable, as was their chatter. As the cherry on the cake, and something that appealed to me, the work's impeccable scholarship educates the reader in depth on many subjects, such as aviation, code decryption, the operation of Swiss banks, the history of Nazi brutality and greed, and more.
If you are seeking a great read, look no farther. This book is for you.
